Second Drone Users Conference:
Conservation & Agriculture
The Endangered Wildlife Trust, United Nations Development Programme, and the Western Cape Government’s Department of Agriculture, will be hosting the 2nd Drone Users Conference: Conservation & Agriculture, taking place at Elsenburg, Stellenbosch, Western Cape, from Monday, 29 November 2021 to Wednesday, 01 December 2021. The conference incorporates drones and technology in the fields of Conservation, Agriculture, Sustainable Land Management and Natural Resource Management.
The conference has adopted a Hybrid format making in person, as well as virtual attendance, possible.
The three main conference themes for the 2021 conference are:
Data Analysis & Interpretation
This topic deals with interpretation and analysis of data. In particular, we will consider presentations that:
- Demonstrates or explains the use of particular paid / open-source software.
- Demonstrates the relevance of collected data towards informed decision making.
- Demonstrates how data is integrated with other information.
Drone Applications
This theme deals with:
- Innovative uses of drones in the fields of agriculture, conservation and natural resource management.
- Experiences from flying in the field.
- Experiences and FAQ in the field of attaching hardware to drones – such as thermal camera, multispectral cameras and more.
- Flying practical / demonstrations.
Drone Operations and Management
This theme looks at current and future developments that affect the commercial use of drones:
- Drone regulation and legislation.
- Drone maintenance and upgrades.
- Incorporate the futuristic view of drones – drone use corridors.
Conference Format
The three-day event will consist of the following:
Two morning sessions focusing featuring delegate presentations
Slots are 10 minutes with 5 minutes Q&A
Afternoon session focusing on software demonstrations and training
